Our Role

Architectural design and planning submission for a timber-framed outdoor classroom. We worked closely with school leadership to ensure the structure met educational needs, safeguarding considerations, and long-term durability requirements.

Challenge

Creating a sheltered outdoor learning space for Greenfield Primary School in Oldham that supports flexible teaching, play, and group activities in all weather conditions, while integrating naturally with the school’s landscape.

Approach

We designed a bespoke timber gazebo to serve as an outdoor classroom within the school grounds. The structure was tailored to suit the daily needs of staff and pupils, providing a safe, durable, and inviting environment that encourages learning beyond the traditional classroom walls.

Solution

The result is a high-quality timber pavilion that blends with the surrounding landscape and supports the school’s commitment to outdoor education. The open-sided design maximises natural light and ventilation while offering year-round usability. This project highlights our ability to deliver practical, low-impact design solutions for educational settings.
