Our Role

Concept design architect. We led the project through the initial RIBA Stage 2 development, focusing on site analysis, massing, visual impact, and architectural vision to support client decision-making and future planning submission.

Approach

We developed a striking concept design for a four-storey hotel with strong linear forms and expansive glazing. The building orientation maximises views over the River Medlock, while warm material tones and vertical proportions respond to the natural woodland backdrop. The design carefully integrates circulation, guest experience, and visual impact to establish a landmark presence on Ashton Road.

Solution

The concept proposes a premium hotel destination that contributes positively to the local context, setting a high architectural standard for future development in the area. With its bold massing, refined façade detailing, and riverside setting, Riverside Hotel is designed to appeal to both leisure and business travellers. This early-stage work sets the tone for future RIBA Stages and a robust planning strategy.
