Retail to restaurant conversion with shopfront design
Our Role
Architectural design and planning consultant for change of use, shopfront redesign, and internal layout. We guided the client through the design and approval process, ensuring the space was fully adapted for restaurant use and compliant with all relevant standards.
Challenge
Converting a ground-floor retail unit into a fully functioning restaurant and grill space on Cheetham Hill Road, Manchester, including a full shopfront redesign and compliance with food-use regulations.
Approach
We developed a layout and interior strategy that optimised seating capacity, customer flow, and back-of-house efficiency. The new design introduced a vibrant dining area with clear kitchen/service zones, while externally, the shopfront was redesigned to provide strong street presence and align with branding and licensing requirements.
Solution
The project successfully transformed a standard retail unit into a stylish, modern hospitality venue. The new façade, lighting, and signage were designed for maximum visibility, while the interior delivers a welcoming dining experience that supports operational flow and brand identity. This scheme reflects our expertise in hospitality architecture and retail-to-restaurant conversions in Manchester.
